Phishing and
Trojan Viruses
These consist of "FISHING" user information
through false links that request bank account data and malicious programs that
install themselves on the computer and monitor the person's data. These types
of fraud occur through fake bank emails. Due to carelessness or ignorance, some
people enter this information thus allowing the virtual criminal to have access
to their accounts.
Email chains
They are a common way of spreading Trojan viruses,
activating as soon as the attachments are known. These chains are used by
criminals to collect emails and user data.
User reports
via WhatsApp
"They indicate that the accounts have been blocked and
guide you to a link that redirects you to another account so that you can enter
your data. Coincidentally, the mail is sent from the same bank email, but the
other website has a strange address," they pointed out via WHATSAPP. As
can be seen in the photos that a citizen shared by WhatsApp, it is an attempt
at phishing. They pose as an official email trying to deceive the bank's
customers. Some of them managed to detect them in time and warned the BCP,
which told them to ignore this information and stated that they were aware of
the problem.
Warning:
"We remind you that the BCP never sends emails with
links where it asks you to enter personal data or passwords." These kind
of fraud occurs as follows
EMAILS THAT APPEAR TO BE FROM THE BCP:
These arrive in the inbox or
in the "spam" folder and most of the time they present links to forms
that request the update of data and secret keys of the client. Due to
carelessness or ignorance, some people enter this information allowing the
virtual criminal to have access to their accounts. Likewise, e-mails that
include the client's name are currently being received, in this way they try to
personalize communication.
EMAILS THAT APPEAR TO BE FROM NEWS
PORTALS:
It
is common for Trojan viruses to spread with alleged emails from news portals
announcing high-impact stories and linking to a link to an external website.
SELF-GENERATED EMAILS:
In
the case of a computer that has been infected or an email has been
"HACKED" (someone seizes the key), emails can be generated to the
user's contact network inadvertently. These emails contain links, in turn they
will continue to spread the virus.
The
security area of the BCP provides seven useful tips to operate financially
safely through the internet:
To
enter
www.viabcp.com, type directly into the address bar of your browser our
website address
www.viabcp.com, avoid using search engines.
Verify
that your name, color, image and personal phrase always appear in your online
trading session.
Always
keep the antivirus activated and updated on your computer.
Avoid
performing operations from a public internet booth and from public wireless
networks.
Do
not share your secret key with anyone, it must be totally personal.
Doubt
if the order in the request for keys is irregular: The BCP never asks for the
digital key or token to enter the account, but only to confirm the operation to
be performed.
If
you receive suspicious emails, send an email to prevencion@bcp.com.pe so that
they can analyze the origin and stop cyber crime.
